These blue woodland violets have been transplanted to my yard where they provide vitamin, mineral and fiber rich leaves and flowers.   Sprinkle flowers on anything for a dose of health protecting bioflavonoids.  Leaves are great on salads.
Ojibwa: Viola pubescens Ait. root was prepared in decoction to treat sore throats.  Local Potawatomi elders say this flower was eaten and root used to treat heart conditions.
A variety of violets, garden sorrel, Asiatic dayflowers and mint blossom salad.

White variety below has edible flower and leaves.
