In route we met a delightful young couple who were most helpful in orienting us to Bordeaux. One word of advise: Learn a little French and use it. The French people appreciate the gesture and will respond positively. Once in Bordeaux we rented a car and were on our way south to St. Jean Pied-de-Port (in the French Pyrenees very close to the border). From St. Jean, we would have a distance of 764 km to Santiago.
