Carey or Plantainl eaf sedge, Carex plantaginea Lam. Plantainleaf sedge, Carex plantaginea Lam. Cyperaceae.  Root was chewed and used as a poultice or spittle from masticated root spit on snakebites (Menominee).  Carrying the root was believed to prevent snake bites.
