Sea asparagus, Salicornia virginica and S. maritima, Chenopodiaceae is found in the upper edge of the tidal zone.  Here on a spit at the entrance of Sooke basin, Sooke, BC, Vancouver Island.  Pick wash and eat raw or cooked.  Salty.

Native American Uses:  Dried and ground for used in cakes, bread, typically sweetened with honey.  Stems eaten as food by Salish and Heiltzug, Gosiute.
