| Wild Geranium, Geranium maculatum
L., Old folk cancer remedy. Root is styptic used to stop
bleeding (tannin rich). Root dried and powdered applied to
canker sores and cancer. Decoction of root for diarrhea, dysentery,
piles, as a gargle for sore gums, to stem bleeding.
Flower is edible but bland. Use as a garnish no raves from the crowd as far as taste goes. Tannins of leaves and rhizome make this an astringent, styptic herb used to stop bleeding used traditionally to treat duodenal ulcers, hemorrhoids, ulcers, diarrhea, and dysmenorrhea and heavy menstruation. These unproven uses are administered with the dried powdered herb two grams to a cup of water infusion. |
