The entire plant is used.   Used as a digestive, bitters.  A liver stimulant and stimulating to the entire digestive system:  increases peristalsis and digestive secretions promoting improved digestion, assimilation and elimination.

The extract is a constituent in preparations as digestives and may be purchased at health food stores here and in Europe; ask for a stomach bitters.
